How high is the UV protection of the dog glasses?
All lenses, even the clear ones , offer 99.8 percent UV protection. This protection is important if, for example, you're out with your dog in the mountains or near or on bodies of water. UV exposure is increased here, and we humans also use sunglasses in those conditions. UV protection is also necessary if your dog suffers from German Shepherd Keratitis .
How much light protection do the Rex Specs dog glasses provide?
We offer nine different lenses, each with a different color, offering either a lower or higher level of light transmission. Clear and Yellow are the two lenses with the lowest tint.
We recommend using the clear lens when starting goggle training. Acceptance of the goggles is faster. The clear lens is also beneficial during walks in bad weather or at dusk.
If your dog is very sensitive to light, for example due to a malfunction of the iris, the Silver Mirror or Blue Mirror lenses are the first choice.
In general, your dog won't be completely blind even with darker lenses. The tints and light transmittance are comparable to the tint strength of sunglasses for humans.
If your dog does not need particularly high or low light protection, it is a matter of styling and color combination as to which lens is the right one.
